"What. The hell. Do you think you're doing?!" Des spat venomously into the phone.
There was no, absolutely no way, Aaron loved this girl. Aaron the Heartless, Aaron the Cold, could not love--not a mother, not a father, not a sibling, not Des, and most definitely not a stupid, ugly Switcher. He didn't love his meals. Surely this was just him leading on his meal--playing with it.
But the way he looked at her... Made Des doubt what was her reality. She believed Aaron could not love.

>>> It was almost a shame that Ava was there; Aaron had a long list of things he wanted to say to Des, none of which could be said out loud.
"I'll be home soon." He said, politely and almost blankly. It sounded like he was repeating a tiresome message to a parent. Hopefully that was what Ava thought, anyway.
"Don't worry; I'm not doing drugs, or crazy stuff. I'm just at the park." He added airily. That part was added as a code within a code for Des. It was a politer form of, none of your business, stop stalking me.

"You think I care about that shit?! Des hissed, glaring at him. Unlike Aaron, she was free to swear profusely. "F**k you! Do you even like this chick?!" she demanded.
No. He couldn't. He could not like the stupid Switcher! She was ugly, and short. And ugly. And she had one bitch of an attitude! God! What the hell?! she thought furiously, Aaron's just foolin' the idiot! She had to make herself believe that--Aaron the Snake could not love. She repeated it over and over like a mantra in her head.

>>> Aaron chuckled lightly, though it was fake.
"You're right; I should've called earlier. You would've probably sent the corps out looking for me. But don't take me for granted, I can take care of myself." There was another hidden message in the last part.
Maybe Des was too dense and opaque to realize the message, thought Aaron. Or maybe she was just too stubborn to see it. Either way, she sounds pissed off.

"G*df**k!" Des half-screeched, fury bursting, "Must I march over there?! Do you like the motherf***ing chick or not?! She could not get any blunter than that.
Sure, she saw the message. She just chose to ignore it.
---
Okay, now this phone call sounde fake.
Normally people would just say 'you're right' not 'you're right; I should've called earlier,' Ava thought. So you ask! Ask him what the hell the phone call is about!
But Ava was scared. What would he do if she did?

>>> This was getting tiresome for Aaron. "No. I'll see you later." He said, a little curtly. He shoved the phone back into his pocket, making sure to turn it off.
"Ah, I'm sorry about that. Parents are troublesome."

"Lucky you have 'em," Ava muttered, looking to the ground.
That was bait. Ava knew that wasn't a mom or a dad on the phone. Aaron sounded too formal, too polite. Ava just wanted to know who it was. And what the hell he does for a living. And why he looks familiar. And why you don't trust him. the little voice in the back of her head had to add. God! Shut up, will you?! she snarled at it.

>>> Aaron went quiet and looked down. This was probably the awkwardest moment of the night; so far, at least.
"Sorry...I, uh, forgot." He finally said.

"No," she smiled softly, "It's alright." A daring move, perhaps, but she tiptoed up and kissed his cheek.
You barely know the fool! What on earth are you doing?! He's going to rape you! You're dead meat! Run, now! Friggin' bitch, run! What if he asks to walk you home?! Then he'll know where you live! Wow. You're an idiot, you stupid stupid voice! I live in the only goddamn orphanage in town! He's dangerous! Dangerous, I tell y--SHUT UP!
