>>> Now it was definite that there was a clear naughty glint. He leaned in tantalizingly. "Just kind of? That's a shame...because I know I like you."
He straightened up, with a tint of grin to his features.

A similar, devilish glint grew in her eyes, and she leaned forward, interested.
"Like... like like?" she used the old term blatantly and flirtatiously, remembering those silly elementary school days.

>>> The glint remained, and his grin was sly.
"That depends. Which one do you think it is?"

Ava's heart beat like a fluttering humming bird in her chest. "Hmm... Well, I'm hoping it's like like..." Her sly smile remained, playing about her lips.
They were less than a single centimeter apart now, her lips nearly brushing his as she spoke.

>>> It was instinct, he forcefully reminded himself, as Aaron bent down (rather quickly) to close what little space was left.
After a few seconds, he pulled away and said playfully, "I hope its like like."

Ava said nothing, but pressed her lips to his again, holding on to the branch tight, smiling slightly.
---
"Sh**," Drake muttered, looking up.
Is that him? Really?
After all these years of searching for his brother, Drake finally thinks he found him. And he's making out with this weird-smelling shapeshifter in a tree. Great. And he wasn't even sure if that was him.
---
Hearing a voice, Ava jumped backwards slightly.
Below them was a boy--not much younger than Ava. He looked... Familiar.
"... Aaron..." her eyebrows condensed in confusion, elbowing Aaron, "Do you... know him?"
They kind of looked alike... Who...?

>>> Aaron looked like he was just force-fed a bowl of mercury. Without any sugar.
Under the circumstances, he wasn't sure if he wanted to sniff him like "who the hell are you why the hell are you here?" or wring his neck off his skinny little brother shoulders.
"What are you doing here?" He more so emphasized it so it didn't sound that unwelcoming---but a tad bit, consideringi who he was with.

Drake gave a hollow, humorless laugh.
"I thought it was obvious," he shrugged offhandedly, "I wake up. Ninth birthday. You know where I am? In this weird house, on a weird smelling bed. My brother didn't even try to bury me when he thought I was dead," he spat the last word, filled with venom.
Ava frowned. "Who is he?" she whispered to Aaron.

>>> There are several kinds of strengths.
Strength, like physical strength. Pick up a tree and throw it across a valley. Strength like mental strength. Use telekinesis to pick up a truck and toss it across the same valley. And then there's containing strength. Use your strength to make sure you don't wring your half-brother from his spine and snap it in half like a matchstick.
"Vampire," At least....I think so. He said, shortly and curtly. He put a hand on the small of her back and the two of them landed lightly on the ground below. "I'll...see you around."
He didn't bother to give a good bye kiss on the cheek.

Ava bit her lip, but kept her mouth shut. She nodded and turned around to retreat into the trees, leaping from a branch to another.
---
Drake frowned at his brother as he appeared in front of him. "So... You like her?" he said coolly, glancing up at Ava's lithe, retreating form.
She was pretty--shorter than Drake, with a cute face. Maybe she was freak shapeshifter--like he was a freak vampire. Maybe his brother was just going to leave her too.

>>> Aaron surveyed his somewhat half-brother with a level unreadable gaze.
Years, it had been. It was strange to see him again. It was like looking at some kind of lost extinct species for the first time. It felt weird, that was one way of putting it. Aaron didn't even remember what he looked like in the first place, so he couldn't make any comparisons.
He almost forgot he even had a half-brother.
"What's it to you?" He finally said, just as cool: an ice chip for an ice chip.

"You do like her," Drake came to his own conclusion.
Hate, fury, despise. Emotions rose up as he took in his brother's face. It hadn't changed much--only thinned out a little; Aaron always had a thin, aristocratic sort of face. But longing came up in Drake's cyclone of emotions. He had missed his brother, missed company, in his years alone. Even if the company he longed for was the one that abandoned him so many years ago.
"We haven't even greeted each other properly yet!" Drake exclaimed. He crossed the footsteps between them with an easy gait and flashed his brother a smile. "Aaron! It's you! I haven't seen you in what seems like forever, eh? It's Drake now, by the by," he said with unecessary formality.

>>> Aaron was staring at him with a deadpan, almost bored expression. Again, he wasn't sure how to fully understand this whole new scenario...
"You're not dead." He said, blantently and still deadpan.

"No--only half," Drake shrugged, then fixed Aaron with a glare. "It was a vampire, not the Grim Reaper. Why," Drake snarled, "Did you leave me?!"
Why, you idiot, would you leave a young, half-turned, eight year old vampire alone?! he wanted to demand, but he had to keep their first conversation in years rather peaceful--well, peaceful on Drake's terms.

>>> His lips curled into a snarl. He wasn't angry, but he was rather frustrated. Was it that hard to believe that...?
"I thought you were dead." It was clear from Aaron's voice that he thought Drake was being stupid.
