Jasper sighed, running his hand through his dark, inky hair in stress. It was inevitable - of course he had seen it coming. As soon as Rosalie had heard Jasper had signed up (even though it was unwillingly), she had the entire school heading to the beach for a party. Luckily, though, it was the beach. He could easily escape to the Screaming Caverns, if needed - and it would probably be needed. He hoped that, like all humans, their attention would be diverted from him and then to themselves.
Rosalie sat down in the ocean water, the waves lapping at her cold skin and clothes. It was depressing. Now that all the humans had been attracted to the wonderful Jasper's birthday party, it seemed that she could, in theory, get some alone time. Oh, that was being too hopeful. Now, the know-it-all voices in her head would not shut up. Her eyelids drooped. How she longed for sleep, for that escape humans seemed to take for granted. Then, if she were asleep, the voices would go away. If she were asleep. Or dead.
Ava was sitting in Screaming Caverns, Aaron by her side. His large hand enveloped her small one easily as they sat near the edge. Some sort of gathering was going on on the beach, but the two were stuck in their own world. She leaned her head on his shoulder, drowsy. It was nice, not having to think for a while. School was wearing. So, Ava just relaxed and shut her eyes, her breathing evening out. It was a nice day, even if it wasn't sunny. The breeze blew around her heart shaped face, whispering through her coarse brown hair like a companion. A small smile grew on her pale pink lips as she took a deep breath and squeezed Aaron's hand once.

Bella hit Jasper lightly in the arm. She had to bite the inside of her cheek; that hurt! A lot! Stupid vampires and their rock hard skin.
"You're planning to run away as soon as Rosalie looks away." She stated, not asking. She knew it was true. In fact, Bella would've bluntly stated that Jasper was lying if he had said no.
--- Jasper wasn't the only unhappy one. Zane had ried his best to act normal throughout the day. Truthfully though, it was just one horrible acting display. He wasn't sure if anyone else noticed, actually. Zane wanted to go poof, and disapear. And never, ever come back.
Today was his death day. Literally. Pun intended. All he could see were trains. Blaring headlights, the freaking wind flying everywhere.... Zane wanted nothing more than to climb into bed and curl up in his blankets like a little kid.
He spotted Rosalie in a corner. It made him want to run off even more.
--- Aaron had been extremely quiet. He didn't want to go to some lame crowded beach party for a grumpy birthday boy. He said probably about five words to Ava the entire time. It was on purpose, of course. He wanted to push her away, make her hate him in as little time as possible. It would definitely make Aaron's job easier if she broke up with him first.
Basically, he was in deep sh*t. Very deep.

"Rosalie is looking away," Jasper gestured at her, spaced out and all, "I'm planning to 'run away' as soon as you look away," he said jokingly. Er, sort of jokingly. Well, he was polite enough to stick around at first! And, he could run fast enough so that nobody could see him, but he wasn't! So, give him some credit!
People were already filtering in, some with picnic baskets, others with blankets, and coolers - all the stuff thy would need. Some girls gave him small things and wished him a happy birthday, to which he politely thanked them, but insisted they didn't need to get him anything. He sighed. This was going to be a wearing day from here on out. Somebody was playing beach music loudly on a radio, the sound tinny to Jasper's ears. He groaned and flopped over, his head on his knees.

Bella made a face. She actually wasn't a huge fan of birthdays herself. Maybe it was just a humble, modest human thing. She didn't mind other people's birthdays, though. It was fun for her; it was nice to see other people enjoying themselves on their day, and smiling.
So, basically it was the opposite of what Jasper was doing. Bella sighed. "Fine, fine. You run off. Have fun, or something." She was already in the process of picking out her friends in the loud crowd.
--- Ava. Stupid Ava. Stupid, stubborn Ava. Stupid, stubborn, sweet and beautiful Ava. Stupid bipolar feelings. Aaron swallowed down his heart, and picked out his braveness within his bunch of bipolar feelings. Basically for him, it was kill Ava, or break up with her and never see her ever again.
"Ava, will you come with me? Somewhere quiet, to talk?"

"Now who's being grumpy?" Jasper grinned, switching moods quite suddenly and standing up. "C'mon," he offered out his hand, "There's nothing like icy ocean water on a beautifully cold day like this!"
Ava would do anything for him - to a point where it was actually quite embarrassing. "Sure," she began the hard struggle of standing up. Every time she stood too fast, all the blood rushed to her head, and then she'd end up falling. She'd done enough of that for one day, thank you.
Even this morning, Katrina had woken her up, and then she promptly fell flat on her face getting out of bed (thank God she hadn't hit her head on the dresser too). Miss Taffet continued to insist she go to school. What a bitch, Ava had thought furiously as she stumbled down the hallway drunkenly (Olivia had looked at her funny). There were two simple reasons why Ava hadn't went back to the orphanage to rest. One: She did not want to explain last night to anybody. Two: Aaron.

Bella couldn't surpress a funny look that she gave Jasper. "Are you feeling alright?" Five seconds ago wasn't he so grumpy about this party? Well, whatever. She took his hand, still a little confused at the sudden mood change.
--- Judging by her actions, Ava had no idea what was coming. And why should she? Logically it didn't make sense that Aaron should break up with her. And there was hardly warning! Well, maybe that was better. Once the two of them were in a safe little spot, he cleared his throat.
Hate me for this. Slap me. Scream that you never want to see me again.
He kept his tone as clipped and cold as he could. "Listen, how should I say this? I'm breaking up with you. Yeah, that's about right."

"I'm feeling fine," Jasper pulled her towards the crowd. "Watch Mary," he whispered in her ear, "That guy'll throw her in the water,"
Indeed, a large, burly boy threw Bella's friend into the water, near Rosalie. The water splashed the vampire, and she blinked and stood slowly, a slight growl slipping out of her teeth. Stupid, obnoxious humans! she swore. --- Ava's head tilted slightly to the side.
"I'm... Breaking... Up... With... You..." his words echoed in her ears.
Her heart thudded. Something was happening. What... What was happening? Something important. Oh, why was it now her brain failed to work?! Curse it!
Her mouth, was smart enough to work, though. Too bad it didn't say the right thing. All it said was, "Why?"
Why what?

Bella couldn't surpress a laugh at the sight of Mary's disgruntled wet head pop out of the waves. Maybe she should've gone to help her...but it was a hilarious sight! Besides, Mary had already grabbed the guy's arm and pulled him right into the water.
"I think Rosalie is more annoyed than Mary is."
--- Aaron felt an annoyed tug in his gut. It would be so much easier for everyone if Ava just shut up and accepted the fate, no matter how cruel.
"I'm getting tired of you, and now that I've tasted your blood, it's no more fun." He chose his words carefully and layered them with annoyance, to maximize the hurt level. "Besides, I like her blood better." He pointedly looked over to where Bella was laughing.
Even though he never tasted more than a drop of Bella's blood, it was good to hint he was a playing bastard. For once, Aaron wanted to amp up the hurt.

Jasper's mouth twisted. "She's been more emotional lately. You think it's been Zane?"
Rosalie had refused to tell him anything, saying she was defending her pride or something of that sort. When he pressed for it, she had ripped down a tree and threw it at him. Needless to say, he dropped the subject. Rosalie did always have problems with her pride, unfortunately for Jasper. Despite that, though, he could make an educated guess that Zane was at the root of this annoying problem.
I wonder where Stone is... --- Ava's heart began shrinking - literally. She morphed under pressure, so she had to make anything she wanted to say quite fast. But the words wouldn't come. Tears - those cane easily though. They slid down her warm face in small streams.
This is stupid,
She closed her eyes for a moment, pulling an image of her human self into her head to stop the morphing. When she thought it was safe, she reopened her eyes and wiped her tears away.
With a shuddering sigh, she said, "Well... For," she swallowed, "For what it's worth, I was stupid enough to believe that you weren't what other people told me. Have fun getting to Bella," she gave him a chaste kiss.
Last kiss, she reminded herself. Our last kiss. Oh, whatever!
She stood there, eyes shut for a moment. Then she took of into the caverns, her small paws pitter-pattering against the dangerous stones.

Bella nodded. She had no doubt whatsoever that it was something Zane did. Call it a girl's intiution, or an obvious guess. "It's an easy guess."
She glanced around and noticed Aaron standing alone. That was kind of odd, because she would've sworn that Ava was with him just a second ago. "Wasn't Ava with Aaron just a second ago?"
--- Aaron's first afterthoughts were: dammit. She didn't slap me like I wanted. Crying plus a last kiss were never good signs of getting over quickly. Maybe Ava would turn out to be a quick mover. It would be much better if she found another, less thirsty, less evil boyfriend who was preferably human.

Jasper hissed, immediately assuming the worst. He tasted her blood. He liked it. Too much. Boom, Ava's gone. What would you think? His amber eyes narrowed in on Aaron as he stood, and with long strides, reached him and pinned the boy against the scraggly rock. Jasper's stone fingers threatened to break his neck.
"Where the hell is Ava?!" he demanded.
He actually wasn't quite so sure why he was so protective of that switcher. Perhaps it was because Aaron was the Devil's spawn, and she'd walked right into his trap. Whatever. Jasper liked the girl (in a completely non-pedophiliac, platonic way), so he would protect her. Or try to, anyway.

Oh. Of course what's his face would pop up and get all fang-y on Aaron. For once, he didn't do anything! Well. Except break her heart. But that was it! Heartbreak happened to humans every other freaking day.
Aaron rolled his eyes. "I don't know, why don't you go ask her? If I even touched her, you would've smelled the blood, wouldn't you?"
Translation: f*ck off, you retard she's still alive and I have no idea where she went. Now are you done threatening me (again)?
To be completely honest, the whole Bella thing added to the break up with Ava was just a play. Yes, once upon a time Aaron had really wanted her blood. But it had kind of loosened and gotten better. Now he just wanted to drink her blood to piss off Jasper. That was mostly it.

Jasper snarled. "Fine. But you watch your little brother. Did you notice his girl Amy is gone?" he sneered, "I wonder where she went!"
He dropped Aaron and walked deeper into the cave. Ava's scent lingered, then twisted into a musky scent of a mouse. He followed the trail as it twisted and turned, then finally ended into a large underground cave. Just his luck. Ava was a large tigress, resting in the middle of the cave.
A growl slipped through her powerful jaws.
Why had this damn vampire, with his stupid stinky scent, followed her? Didn't he have that Bella girl? She wrinkled her nose and lashed her tail, standing. A good fight was what she needed. However, the damn vampire with his stupid stinky scent, backed down and held his hands up in surrender. Dammit! Instead, Ava roared.
Run, dammit!
With a sigh, Jasper turned from the cave.
